I'm here with you now In the third part of this series. After marking the previous 2 lessons as black hated ones, This one is completely legal and accepted by Google. This one will be an ad with a countdown. When you visit the index of the website, The ad will appear and below it, There's a countdown, Once the period expires(15 Seconds), the page will redirect you to the site's index.

So, it's not a bad one. Let's see how we can do that. First off, We have to put the redirection code in the head of our page :

We are constantly bombarded by the same generic internet marketing information day-by-day. Over the last 2 years very little has changed in the overall process of internet marketing but what internet marketers do not tell you is why some keywords sell and some do not. This is the whole reason why some websites make enormous amounts of money, while other similar sites make very little if any at all.

There is a science to keyword selection for both Organic Search and Pay-per-Click which means that you can find yourself in a situation where you have invested huge amounts of time in trying to Search Engine Optimise a website for certain keywords only to find they bring you no money at all or invest obscene amounts of money for Pay-per-Click only to find no sales and a huge bill at the end. Personally, my team and I have invested huge amounts of money in generic keywords to find that the conversion rate for the keyword is sitting at 0.1% where as more focused and targeted keywords would in fact bring greater reward and much greater conversion rate.

I know, we have all heard that statement before!

But there are keywords that should be avoided if you truly want sales over just building up a customer database.

My team and I have found that keywords that use the word Free, at no cost, complimentary, or on the house will in fact be poor sales converters and in most cases will not provide any substantial revenue. This is particularly true of those who use those keywords in Pay-Per-Click. In one test we undertook using Google Adwords we offered a FREE Tips Newsletter on using Free Microsoft Word to capture names to build a customer database. My team and I chose keywords that incorporate the keywords Free within the keyword and we spent 12 months working with the list and had over 10,000 names on the list only to find that we achieved no sales.

I should note that we employed a number of expert sales writers and email marketers to assist and try to engineer copy that would entice people to buy but the bottom line was that none of it was going to happen because certain keywords attracts certain types of clients.

We than ran a second test in parallel in which we changed the keywords to disavow the use of the word Free within the Keywords. This new list with a similar number of people in it had a greater conversion rate than that with the word Free. Actually the conversion rate was around 3-5%. Keep in mind one thing, we were still giving away a Free Daily Microsoft Word tips but the difference was that we were attracting two different types of people.

To finish off the test we then compared the two lists for duplicates and here is the truly interesting aspect to our test. There were no duplicates even though they came form totally different websites. What this told us was that we literally had two different market places within the Internet.

We have the Real buyers or the Free buyers. Real Buyers are simply people prepared to invest for getting the information they want and the Free Buyers who simply want everything for FREE. In the first list we created for Microsoft Word Tips we found that very often when we would put offers into our list, we would have people abuse us stating we shouldn't be selling anything, we should be giving it all to them for free. This one occurrence tells you very clearly the choice of keywords is so important.

When looking for Real Buyers through Pay-Per-Click or Organic Search you need to choose keywords that are product specific, name specific or teach a person something. For example, if you had a product such as a book that was a course on teaching dogs to obey commands the most successful keywords you could use would incorporate the words -

- learn

- teach

- course

- study

- taught

- skilled

- knowledge

Sample keywords you could use for your training course keywords would be -

- teach your dog tricks

- teach dog tricks

- learn how to train your dog

- study how to teach your dog

If you are selling specific products like a book for Bread Recipes for a bread machine then the keywords that would work the best for sales would be keywords like -

Whilst the number of hits you will find for each keyword may only be 20 to 30 hits per day, you can confirm this by using tools like Wordtracker, you will find that sales will be more effective than if you use keywords that say -

- Free Recipe Book for Bread machines

The bottom line is this, not all keywords sell simply because they attract a different type of customer. Some keywords will attract buyers prepared to buy and other keywords will attract people who have no intention of ever buying.

If you are having trouble selling online and you are doing everything that the Internet Marketing Gurus are telling you, then I would suggest you start to look further at your keywords because maybe you are attracting the wrong customer type. Save, E-mail, Save & Email - When you click the save button there will be a delay while your bookmark is saved to Furl. Don't close the window shown above. It will close when the site is saved. You can now save web sites to Furl by just repeating this action. You can also e-mail the site and comments to your friends.

You can hire affiliate networks such as Commission Junction and Be Free (both now owned by ValueClick), LinkShare or Performics. They handle the tracking and money - and charge you a healthy percentage. Those companies charge a few thousand dollars to get your affiliate program established.

There is also a wide range of smaller affiliate networks to choose from. They charge smaller fees.

You can hire someone to put their affiliate tracking software on your server. You can buy a CGI tracking script - or you can start an affiliate program by writing your own script.

You can also use web-based tracking systems which charge a monthly fee.

One thing to ask affiliate networks is who owns and controls the email addresses of affiliates. If they're YOUR affiliates, you want to be in control of those valuable names.

If you're thinking of using any of the networks as a merchant, I strongly recommend you sign up as an affiliate first - free - and test the service your affiliates will be receiving.

Commission Junction, launched in 1998, has a large network of merchants. You can quickly establish a pay-per-lead or pay-per-sale program, and benefit from publicity generated by this prominent affiliate network. Here's the description from the site:

"With a pay-per-lead program, you pay a commission when an authorized affiliate refers a customer to your site and that customer fills out a form or performs another action that allows you to follow up on the sales process.

"With a pay-per-sale program, you pay a commission when an authorized affiliate refers a customer to your site and that customer buys a product or service. The purchase may occur when the visitor is at your site or it may occur at a later time.

"Whether you want to start a new program or upgrade your existing program, we can get you started in a matter of days at a price that any organization can afford. The system works well. A huge advantage of using a large network is that it promotes your program for you. Also, Commission Junction consolidates payouts (payouts from other CJ programs get lumped together into one large check), making it a favorite of affiliates.

However, you will still have to promote your affiliate program yourself. A large percentage of the affiliates who sign up through a major affiliate network will be newcomers who don't know how to sell on the Net.

It costs several thousand dollars to set up. LinkShare organizes things, does the tracking and handles payments. LinkShare offers consolidated affiliate payments, direct deposit for U.S. affiliates, and user defined minimum payment thresholds. LinkShare has attracted many big names, including Dell. You benefit from the publicity it generates.

More networks

ClickBank allows sellers of information products to set up a simple affiliate program very quickly, easily and very cheaply. Because it is so easy, you will be sharing space with a fairly mixed crowd. ClickBank accepts payments by credit card for you, and charges a percentage of each sale. It has about 100,000 affiliates. This is a very popular solution.

PayDotCom is a budget-priced ClickBank competitor, offering some features not offered by ClickBank.

ClickXchange will enable you to build your own affiliate program paying per-click, per-lead, per-sale, or per-impression. ClickXchange has over 150,000 affiliates in its network, and all advertiser accounts include a customized affiliate sign-up process that merges into your site.

DoubleClick Direct advertising network works with direct marketers on per-lead and per-sale advertising solutions. It's also a useful resource for online advertising information.

1. Make easy money online naming domains. The original idea comes from Dane Carson’s blog. While you can earn money as a contributor for services such as PickyDomains.Com, here is a better idea. Go to Google or any other search engine, find sucky domain names and contact their owners directly, offering them your services. The key to success is to make it 100% risk free. Inform your prospective clients that you’ll accept money only if they like your domain name. If you come up with one approved domain name a day and charge what PickyDomain charges, you can make $1500 a month. Another twist – come up with cool domain names, like SiteToRemember.Com or ItsMe.Com, register them yourself and sell them on the aftermarket.

2. eBay arbitrage. A lot of people like buying stuff on eBay, because it’s cheap. And some people never buy on eBay, because they are afraid of being ripped off. Here is your solution to making easy money on eBay. Go to Craigslist.Com and see what items people buy and sell most often. Look at prices. Then go to eBay and see, if you can get it cheaper. Let’s get one thing straight. Facebook’s social ads are like the backwoods, dim cousin of Google AdWords. You don’t have anywhere near the control you would like over your ads. They show up when they show up.

The good news is, if you have a product that can be targeted to specific demographic, Facebook is a dream.

Going along with my theory about dot CA names, I registered Wedding-Flowers.ca this morning.

There are about 4,300+ searches each day for “wedding flowers”. So, even though it’s a competitive keyword, it’s a good looking domain name and I can work on optimizing it later….or maybe I’ll just sell it.

In the meantime though I thought I’d find a decent little affiliate program and just redirect the domain name directly to the hop link. Instant content.

From there I went to Facebook and logged in to my account and started creating my ads.

Who wants wedding flowers? Well, mostly females and specifically engaged ones. No problems. A few clicks in Facebook’s ad system and I found that 431,740 females, aged 18 and up are listed as engaged…

I created a simple ad and set a bid of $0.05. My bid had to be low as my payout is only $8.26 per item sold. Going on a estimated sale every 100 clicks, I want to keep the scale in my favour.

After three disapproved ads because of grammar errors (sigh…Facebook, you’re such a square), I finally had an ad approved and it was running.

An hour passed and the ad had NO impressions.

I went back in and increased my bid from 5 cents to $1.95. Now, there is NO WAY I’m going to keep my bid at $1.95. I would end up spending $19.50 to make $8.26.

But here’s the thing… my impressions suddenly jumped. Within 2 minutes I had over 2,000 impressions.

I had one click at a cost of $1.64.

I reduced my bid to $0.95.

The impressions kept climbing. They were over 4,500 now.

Another click came in, but this time only at $0.74.

So here’s my suggested plan of action for making money on Facebook ads…

1. Pick a product that will appeal to a specific demographic, preferrably one with their wallets already out for other expenses. Weddings were a perfect item for this.

2. Create your ads and set starting bids at about double the suggested bid.

3. Wait until the impressions start climbing, which in my experience is mere minutes, and then reduce your bid by half.

4. Get a couple of clicks at that bid price and then reduce your bid again by half.

5. Keep going until you see your impressions starting to cease.

Is there really big money on Facebook? I don’t think so.
I think the mindset of Facebook users is that great stuff should be free….or at least it can be.
Keeping with that mindset, try to find products that allow free trials or ways to save money.

I’ll write another post when I see how this ad does.

1. Don't go on depositing your salary in your savings account

Do you rush to the ATM and withdraw money regularly? Well, you cannot afford to be careless about withdrawals. While a savings bank account helps you meet your regular needs, it is important not to deposit all your earnings in the savings account.

While you must keep a portion of the salary in the savings account, make sure you allocate enough money for regular expenses, as well as additional expenses, that you may need to meet unexpectedly.

Excess money in savings account will always also tempt you to spend more money than you should ideally spend.

2. Don't manage money without a good plan

Buy things one at a time so that you have enough money for yourself and to save and you are not too indebted.

9. Don't join any scheme without verifying the credentials

There have been several cases of fraud, where innocent investors have been cheated by crooks posing as smart investors or advisors. They may lure you with all kinds of schemes of getting higher returns at the shortest possible time. Always cross-check facts and figures and their credentials before you invest in any plan.

You must also be aware of the fine print. Ask for all the details even it is time consuming. At the end of the day, you must be thoroughly convinced that you have made the right choice.

10. Don't invest your money in risky plans

While it is important not to keep stacking your money in a savings account, it is not important not to indulge in risky investment plans. You must start saving with smaller amounts and try to save more as you go along.

To start with, you must seek the advice of a good financial planner or choose low-risk plans. Remember, slow and steady wins the race!

11. Don't forget the dates, plans

Most people are very bad at remembering dates of maturity of their fixed deposits, or savings schemes or dates of paying premium. Make sure you keep a diary of all the saving plans, their maturity dates and remember to either reinvest the money or go ahead with any plan that you have in mind when the plan matures.

How I Made $860,538.38 PROFIT in 4 Months!

First off, I would like to make it clear that this post is NOT to impress you, but to impress upon you what’s possible! This is a quick review on how I went from one of my worst years of making money online to my best year, and all it took was one big idea, one web site and several hundred hours of effort along with many sleepless nights. This is “How I Made $860,538.38 Profit in 4 Months!“.

MARKETING EXPERIENCE & RIDING THE WAVES:
Time and time again, I talk about how you must change your marketing niche every once in a while to continuously make new money online. Over the years I have done everything from content web sites, to sweepstakes and freebie type sites, to running my own affiliate programs and even permission based email marketing. In early 2004 I had one of my best years with making money online, then later on in the year things started to slack off and this continued on through most of 2005. At the time I wasn’t making much money and it was quite depressing. It’s very tough to get back into the groove when you hit a few underachieving projects in a row. In short, I was in a dip… and at the bottom of my latest successful wave. It wasn’t until October 2005 that I came up with my next big idea that would soon bring me my best months and year!

FIND A NEW IDEA & TAKE CONTROL OF IT!
Social networking was just starting to catch fire and for months I knew there was a way to profit from it, but I just hadn’t come up with an idea yet. MySpace had millions of users on their network 24 hours a day, there had to be a way to take advantage of this. Soon enough I realized, instead of trying to sell to all of these users, why not offer them something for free. I ran through some ideas and came up with my own site to provide free content for social network users. To make a long story short, my site and my content went viral extremely fast. Instead of having users upload their own content or have to search around for what they were looking for, I provided everything for free. In no time I was receiving thousands of users to my site daily. At max points I was pushing up to 180,000+ unique visitors per day, while pushing TERABYTES of data bandwidth. Imagine hosting thousands of images, viewed by millions across several different social networks!

MANAGEMENT OF MASSIVE GROWTH:
Just two months after going live with my new site, I was starting to accumulate some amazing hosting costs. Imagine the cost on hosting thousands of widgets, text applications and images, which are loaded millions of times a day across social networks like MySpace! The only reason why I was able to afford these insane hosting costs, was because of the massive volume of users I was receiving back to my site, not only through social networks, but also from Google and other search engines. You only need a small percentage of a very big number to click on ads, fill out surveys or take any action, to make money. In two short months I went from having a single dedicated server to having over TEN, then with the insane bandwidth costs added in I was paying up to $12,000 a month. At this time I was currently with EV1Servers.net, and leasing all of my servers. Since I’m not a tech/programmer type guy, I also had a server management team watching my servers constantly to make sure they were always running, just being down for a few minutes would have lost $100s of dollars. This server management team was not part of EV1Servers, and cost $1000 a month to manage all of the servers, and keep the servers balancers in place. By the end of the third month, I talked with my server management team and we decided it was time to for me to invest in my own servers and take out the middleman for hosting. I went on to order 17 servers from Dell, which are all held and managed in a data center now.

MONETIZATION IS KEY:
On average, my site was receiving around 100,000 unique visitors per day, and I was generating most of my ad revenue through Yahoo Publisher Network, ValueClick Media and CasaleMedia. It wasn’t until a year later that I would start testing CPA offers on the site. To my surprise, the CPA offers from networks like NeverBlueAds worked extremely well. Originally I had stayed away from promoting a few of their offers because I thought they were over saturated and wouldn’t convert. I finally took their advice and listed a few on the site and to this day they are still pushing some great earnings through the site.

TO EXPAND, SELL OR STAY THE SAME:
Back in April, I wrote a post asking the question… “To Sell, or Not to Sell?“… This was a question I had to ask myself when I was approached by a company that wanted to merge/purchase my MySpace resource site. I not only turned down their seven-figure deal, but I was lucky enough to not be one of the many sites screwed by the company, as they tried buying many other sites as well. Once acquired by the company, they would wreck the site with adult-like video content and I heard from several people on how they got screwed out of their owed money and contracts.

SUCCESS IS FOUND:
Two years, and over seven-figures later… my little site idea that rapidly became one of my most profitable ideas yet, is still running strong. Despite the fact that I really haven’t touched the site in several months, it’s still receiving over 25,000 uniques per day and still making a decent amount of change.

EARNINGS DETAILS:
As I mentioned earlier, three of the main initial revenue sources I monetized my site with were ValueClick Media, CasaleMedia and Yahoo Publisher Network. While I did use other programs such as NeverBlueAds and Google Adsense later on, these three programs were heavily used during months of peak traffic. As for promotion costs of the site, during this three month period, there were none. No PPC Advertising either, everything was viral traffic and a couple links off my other sites. This write up focused on how I made $860,538.38 PROFIT in 4 months. The site is now well over two years old and has since earned over seven figures in profit/earnings.

ValueClick Media is a company that buys your web site advertising space on a CPM basis. From my stats chart below, you can see the monthly increase in revenue went from $243.63 to nearly $30,000 a month.

CasaleMedia provides the same type of service as ValueClick Media, but are more strict with acceptance into their program. They also have higher CPM rates, but usually purchase a smaller percentage of your ad space. Peak earnings with CasaleMedia were around $7,000 a month.

One of the major reasons for my dramatic increase in income, was due to the release of the Yahoo Publisher Network. This program, run by Yahoo, is basically their response to Google Adsense. Like Adsense, you are paid an unknown percentage for each click you send to the contextual advertisements displayed on your site.

It wasn’t til about a year after launching the site, that I would start testing with CPA offers from NeverBlueAds. To my surprise, the majority of offers I listed on the site performed extremely well. Even though I thought the market was over saturated on these offers, there was still a high demand. With the new revenue generated from NeverBlueAds, the site was able to pull in another $60,000+.

Malaysian Blog Sold for USD$10,000

How much would you sell your blog for? A Malaysian blogger, Bob Jiwakacau, sold his 5 months old but good rankings blog “blog oh blog” for USD$10,000.

How good is the blog?

Blog Oh Blog is young (5 month old) and do not have high traffic (1000+ visitors/day), but it received good rankings such as PageRank 6, Technorati No.44, and Alexa 35,331.

How did the blog ranked so high?

One of the main reasons is because the blog received many incoming links from other blogs. Bob created some popular free WordPress themes. Every blog that uses his theme will link to his blog in the theme footer.

My two cents

It is not easy to have a blog in Technorati Top 50. Bob did that by offering free high quality WordPress themes. He has received the fruit of his hard work now. However, I think USD10,000 for the blog is under priced.

According to Bob, the main reason of blog selling is commitment to his work, and he cannot write in English well. That’s too bad. He probably can sell the blog for a lot more at its 1-year old milestone.

How To Make $30K A Month Blogging

Hey! It’s a brand new month and that means it’s time to the famous John Chow dot Com blog income report. These income reports came about because of a case study I started way back in September 2006. I wanted to see if money could be made by blogging and using this blog as a test case was a logical choice. February represents the first month that the blog broke the $1,000 per day barrier.

10 Reasons Why You Should Consider Using AdSense on your Blog

1. International Traffic - if your blog has a considerable amount of traffic that comes from outside of North America it can be difficult to find an advertising network that will allow you to participate (particularly if your traffic is from some parts of Asia). Some ad networks will simply not accept you as a publisher, others will not serve their ads to non US traffic and others will serve other less relevant and lower paying ads to this traffic. AdSense does none of this. The beauty of AdSense is that they have such a large supply of advertisers using them that there is almost always some advertiser who wants traffic from your your reader’s part of the world. Of course there is more competition for some traffic than others (which drives up prices) but I know as someone who has a large Australian readership of some of my blogs that it is one of the best ways that I’ve found to make money from that traffic.

2. Easy Implementation - when I first started experimenting with making money from blogging just over 4 years ago I experimented with a number of options. The reason that I stuck with AdSense was that even as a complete technical idiot I could get an AdSense ad unit up and running on my blogs within minutes. Of course since that time AdSense have made implementing ad units on blogs even easier (particularly in the last couple of weeks with server side ad management). While other ad networks have followed in the footsteps of AdSense in how they let publishers design and add ad units to blogs - I still find AdSense one of the easiest to use. This makes it ideal for the beginner wanting to experiment for the first time with an advertising network.

3. Massive Advertiser Base - AdSense has had years to establish itself in both it’s back end but also it’s presence in the Advertising community. The result is that they’ve managed to build up a very large base of advertising clients. This increases the chances of them being able to serve relevant ads to your blog (see my next point). There’s no way that an individual blogger would be able to have access to such a wide array of potential advertisers.

4. Obscure Topics - one of the issues that some publishers face when starting a blog on a tightly targeted niche is that it can be difficult to find ways to make money from it either through finding a sponsor for the blog, finding an ad network that is relevant to the topic or by finding an affiliate program that relates. While AdSense is better for some topics than others (read on for more on this) I’m constantly amazed by just how targeted ads can be on even obscure topics. The myriad of advertisers using this system are competing by bidding on millions of keywords on virtually every topic that you can think of.

5. Make it Easy For Advertisers to Target Your Blog - AdSense servers ads from advertisers to your blog in a couple of ways. Firstly there’s one that is completely contextual - they look at your content and then serve ads from their system that they think will relate to that content and have a good chance of earning you (and them) money. The second method is where advertisers specifically target your blog to have their ad appear on. This all happens without you really having to do anything - but it’s good because it is often used by advertisers to test your blog - which can lead to other things. Every few weeks I get an email from a potential advertiser who had been testing ads on my photography blog via AdSense and then wanted to further the relationship (whether by going with private ad deals, sponsorships, affiliate programs etc).

6. Set it and Forget it - many bloggers just want to write content. They don’t have the time or expertise to approach, pitch, negotiate with and then collect money from advertisers. AdSense takes a lot of this work away from you and many bloggers simply add the code to their blogs and then forget it. Of course for best results you should pay it a bit more attention than that and experiment with different design and positioning of ads - but it does take a lot of the work out of things.

7. No Minimum Traffic Levels - if you are just starting out and don’t have much traffic yet it can be difficult to find advertisers or an ad network to take you on board. Some networks have minimum traffic levels before they’ll accept you into their program - but not with AdSense. While your blog may not earn you much - even with small amounts of traffic you can begin to make a few dollars over time.

8. Able to be Used with Other Ad Types - when I first started experimenting with AdSense there were fairly strict rules in place as to what other types of advertising you were allowed to have on a page that had an AdSense unit on it. However in more recent times it has become a little more relaxed and you can run many different types of ads on the same site and page as AdSense.

9. Multiple Ad Formats - one good feature of AdSense is that you’re not just restricted to one type of ad with them. Not only do you have many ad unit sizes to choose from - but you have the ability to serve Text Ads, Image Ads, Video Ads, Adlink units, referral ads (CPA) and use their ’search’ tool which also is monetized. Many other ad networks just major in one or two of these different formats - in a sense AdSense is something of a one stop shop.

Reliable Payment - one of the questions that I’m regularly asked about new ad networks coming onto the market to compete with AdSense is ‘how do we know if they’ll pay up?’ The reality is that most ad networks do pay up - but you do occasionally hear stories of publishers who are not satisfied with this aspect of some ad networks. Do you know how large the traffic volume is for those really "big" site? They can even have more than 300 clicks per day for their sites. It is quite extraordinary to a newbie of Adsense.

As time goes on, more and more webmasters begin to realize the importance of traffic to their sites. The amount of traffic generated by a given site is perhaps the most important predictor of the amount of AdSense revenue it generates. Therefore, to me, traffic is KING!! Even with the importance of factors such as proper formatting and placement of ads, no site can succeed without a sufficient number of visitors checking out the ads being offered.

For illustration purposes, let us look at a website that is receiving 1,000 visitors per day. Let's assume that the size gets an average of 10 cents per click, with a CTR of 5%. This means that of those 1,000 visitors, only 50 will click the ad (the 5% figure is a pretty realistic standard). That means that an average day's earnings would be a mere half a dollar, with an average monthly take of only $15 or so. These measly earnings may not even be enough to cover the hosting fees for the site.In order to earn even $60 per month, it would be necessary to quadruple the number of daily visitors, increase the click through rate, or both. You can see, therefore, why it is so important to constantly strive to drive more and more traffic through your virtual doors.

There are of course a number of strategies to increase web traffic, and most webmasters will have heard the term SEO, or search engine optimization. SEO techniques use a combination of targeted content rich in popular keywords, links from other sites and other methods to drive traffic and increase search engine rankings. Search engine rankings can be vital to website traffic, of course, since most people use some sort of search engine to find the information they need on a variety of subjects. Pay per click advertising, or PPC, is another popular way to build traffic to a site.

While this strategy can be very effective, it can also be quite costly, so it is important to carefully read the fine print of the agreement before signing up. Apart from that, you need to be very careful to those paid-to-surf, pard-to-click and auto-surf programs. Google can detect these programs very effectively, and in fact, many webmasters were being banned by Google just because they enrolled these programs. So, be careful to void these sorts of programs.

Google AdSense announced a new feature for Blogger.com users to allow them insert AdSense ads in between blog posts. Member can select how often to display ads, example: show ads after two posts.

Here is the step-by-step instruction to insert AdSense ads between Blogger blog posts:

Note: you need to have a Google AdSense account to enable the new feature.

Log into your Blogger account
Goto Template tab and click Page Elements link
Click Edit at the lower right corner of Blog Posts section

Tick the checkbox of Show Ads Between Posts and *magic* a Configure Inline Ads section shown up
Then, you can select how often your’d like your ads to appear, from every 1 to 5 posts. However, ads displayed only up to 3 times per page (due to AdSense program policies). You can select the ad format and customize the colors. All AdSense ad units and link units are supported, except AdSense search box and referral units.

My two cents

So, it is easier to add more AdSense ads on your Blogger blogs. It is very easy to setup, but missing ad channel option, which is important to track ad performance.

By the way, even though you can have a large tall leaderboard banner in between blog posts… don’t do that! Stick with rectangle shape ad formats for better performance.

If you trawl through the AdSense message boards you can’t help but come across tales of woe from AdSense publishers that have had their account banned by Google.

Below is a list of ways people have been banned from AdSense and information on how to avoid it happening to you.

Don’t click on your own ads

The obvious one but still people do it. Google has the IP address of the computer/s that you’ve used to create and check your AdSense account. If it sees that this IP address clicks one of your ads you’re in trouble.

Don’t do it. It’s theft. Not from Google but from the AdWords advertisers.

If you want to go to a site advertised by one of your ads don’t click on it look at the URL of the advertising site at the bottom of the ad and type it into your browser.

If you click on one accidentally (which does happen) you’re probably be ok but it’s worth dropping a quick email to Google with an explanation and apology

Don’t log in to AdSense from a shared computer.

As I said above Google keeps a record of every machine IP address used to look at your account. If you check your stats on a machine then someone else clicks on your ads from the same machine Google sees this as click fraud. Worth bearing in mind when thinking of checking your stats from somewhere like an Internet Café.

Don’t log in to your AdSense account from work.

Apart from getting in trouble with the company that employs you there’s also a further real risk. Most companies use a proxy server to access the Internet. A proxy server with ONE IP ADDRESS. Therefore you checking your ads from work means this proxy IP address being recorded by Google as one that you use. Problem is if there are 1000 people in your company it is the same IP address for them too. Google can’t differentiate between you and the other 999 employees in your company. If one of these 999 clicks on one of your ads it’s ban time.

Don’t get into a ‘I’ll click your ads if you click mine’ agreement with another Webmaster.

As above Google will have your IP address and that of every AdSense publisher. If they see these IP addresses consistently clicking on each other ads it’s goodbye for both of you.

Don’t tell friends and family.

Telling friends and family about your money making websites can lead to problems. Even if you tell them not to click on your ads there’s always the chance that Auntie Maud will think it’s a good idea to make some extra money for her favourite nephew. 100 clicks later from the same visitor and your account is screaming ‘Click Fraud’.

Receiving clicks from illegal traffic

Check the AdSense TOS for sources of traffic that aren’t allowed by Google. These include methods like Traffic exchange, PTC advertising, Auto surf etc.

Do monitor your visitor and AdSense figures

Check your account at least once a day. If you see a massive spike coupled with a massive increase in Page CTR investigate using your visitor stats website. If you see it’s all come from the same IP address you could have been the victim of a malicious attack – inform Google via email and offer them access to your logs.

Starting the last week in January, the payout for referring a user who generates $100 with AdSense in the first 180 days will be $100. In the past, you earned $5 if the AdSense publisher you referred made $5 within 180 days; plus, if that publisher made $100 within 180 days, you get $250; plus, if you referred 25 people who make $100 within 180 days, you get a bonus of $2,000.

* Program is canceled for publishers outside of North America, Latin America, or Japan: Google will stop paying a commission to those affiliates who refer publishers to sign up with AdSense, if that affiliate is based outside of North America, Latin America, or Japan.

Again, this only impacts the AdSense referral product. This does not impact the referral products for AdWords, Checkout, Google Pack, and so on.
